Ideas for Tomorrow

The Center for Health Affairs is proud to be a community partner for the Ideas for Tomorrow presentation featuring Siddhartha Mukherjee, MD. Ideas for Tomorrow is an ongoing speaker series that provides a forum for the world’s most distinguished thinkers, speakers and personalities to engage in a dialogue with members of our community.

Siddhartha Mukherjee, MD, is a Rhodes Scholar, graduating from Stanford University, University of Oxford, and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Mukherjee was awarded the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for general nonfiction for his book, The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer.

Dr. Mukherjee's laboratory seeks to understand the biology of normal and malignant blood development, with a focus on understanding malignant and pre-malignant blood diseases such as Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) and Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML). He has had a long interest in the role of the bone microenvironment, and showed that alterations in the microenvironment can initiate MDS.
