Funding Awarded to Neighborhood Family Practice

Funding Awarded to Neighborhood Family PracticeThe Center for Health Affairs has awarded grant funding in the amount of $1.2 million to Neighborhood Family Practice to support the capital and operating needs of the health center. The funding, which begins in 2017, will be paid in increments of $300,000 over four years and comes from the residual profits of The Center for Health Affairs and its affiliates.

The Center for Health Affairs member hospitals work closely with community organizations that expand access to healthcare and improve the health of the community. When funds become available, The Center occasionally provides financial support to healthcare organizations whose work compliments the goals of its members. The mission of Neighborhood Family Practice – to partner with the community for everyone’s health by providing health care services regardless of ability to pay; treating patients with compassion, dignity and respect; protecting confidentiality; and offering culturally sensitive services and community outreach – aligns well with that of the region’s hospitals.

“We’ve heard from our members that managing the health of the community is something that is increasingly being asked of them; yet, most of the activities required to manage community health occur outside their four walls,” explained Tim Jarm, president and CEO of The Center. “It’s going to take community organizations like Neighborhood Family Practice and our members working together to be able to begin to tackle community health issues. This award is meant to strengthen NFP and ensure their good work continues.”

Neighborhood Family Practice is a Federally Qualified Health Center servicing residents of Cleveland’s near west side, focusing on high-quality primary care in a medical home setting. NFP has five locations and offers same-day appointments.
