Access Works: Seven Reasons Why Continued Support of Medicaid is Critical

March 2015 Policy SnapshotWhen Medicaid expansion became a reality in Ohio – and childless adults earning up to 138 percent of the federal poverty level gained access to health insurance – Ohio healthcare advocates celebrated this hard-fought victory. Consumer advocates and healthcare providers understand that Medicaid access works and nothing ranks higher on their 2015 list of policy priorities than ensuring access to care continues to be available to this newly eligible Medicaid population.

The Center's March 2015 Policy Snapshot, Access Works: Seven Reasons Why Continued Support of Medicaid is Critical, includes information about how Medicaid provides access to necessary healthcare services, why it is essential to a person’s well-being, a description of why costs to the state are minimal, and more. As the legislature debates the various provisions of the state budget one thing should be clear, access to care works.
